We love to get people fired up about IT and digital transformation, and our Dell EMC Forum was just the place to get like-minded people buzzing. This free one-day event took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh and brought business leaders and IT professionals together to explore business trends, the direction of cloud computing and the best practices in IT.

The day kicked off with an opening welcome By Kamal Othman & Mahmoud Abbas, General Managers of Dell EMC Saudi Arabia. This was followed by a keynote from Patricia Florissi, VP Global CTO for Sales. Her highly anticipated session had the room packed without an empty seat in sight, and the audience remained captivated as she shared her vision of IT transformation.

“The goal of digital transformation and living is to enhance the lives of its citizens and residents”.

With digitization disrupting every aspect of our lives and innovation disrupting every business, companies need to transform and modernize their data center to become future ready. Florissi also highlighted the importance of security as a key aspect of IT transformation.

In order to build a modern data center, there needs to be a greater trust in digital security in order to protect sensitive and valuable data. Therefore investing in smart secure cloud storage and all-flash hardware will enable, and accelerate digital transformation.

The day proceeded on an equally enthusiastic note with sessions featuring other top speakers from the IT industry.  Attendees were truly spoiled for choice and information, as these sessions covered a myriad of topics, from modernizing infrastructure and the workforce, to technical deep-dives and sponsored sessions.

Some highlights included Shams Hasan discussing the many paradigm shifts taking place in IT today, and Mohamed Amin’s motivation to use Saudi’s Vision 2030 as an excellent tool to change the market in all sectors.

Let the Transformation Begin!

As KSA prepares to implement Vision 2030, the public sector looks to realign its priorities and put innovation at the forefront.  This key positioning puts digital transformation at the heart of Vision 2030, and will hopefully inspire other businesses to modernize, as currently 78% of digitally transformed new businesses are a threat to existing businesses.

To help guide Dell EMC’s Forum attendees on their journey of digital transformation, an IT Transformation Lounge was active throughout the day, with experts on hand to personally answer delegate’s questions. With over 10 live demos, plus additional stations in the Security Transformation and Workforce Transformation lounges, delegates really experienced the ‘number 1 solutions in everything’ in one place.

As the Dell EMC Forum closed for another year, it was also an excellent time for us to reflect on our own journey of transformation.
