Dell OEM-Ready PowerEdge R310 Appliance Server Platform Now Available

Businesses who develop and sell server-based appliances often gain a competitive edge when they choose proven, time-tested technologies. This allows them to focus on strategic business initiatives rather than highly-tactical systems maintenance.

To better facilitate this, Dell is now shipping the latest addition to its OEM-Ready solutions portfolio – the PowerEdge R310. The R310 us a new, one-socket 1U rack server with the right combination of computing power, value and enterprise-class features designed to meet the diverse needs of simple solution developers and large, complex enterprise-class solutions providers alike.

Offered as both a standard Dell branded server and as an unbranded OEM-Ready platform, the PowerEdge R310 addresses the top requirements of Dell’s server-appliance customers.

For example, a large OEM customer, who supplies innovative signal processing systems for the space and aerospace communications industry, uses the R310 to develop world- class satellite control systems with high reliability and appropriate performance. With more than a decade of specialized server experience, we developed the R310 to address specific OEM customer needs by:

  • Providing affordable solutions through a range of configurations. Customers may choose from a broad selection of performance and functionality features from the entry-level to the highest end Intel Xeon X3470 CPU with 32GB of DDR2 RAM, optional redundant & hot plug power supplies, enterprise-class systems management with full remote control, enterprise-class PERC H700 RAID controller, and four optional hot plug 6Gb SATA or SAS hard drives, which enables them to meet the needs of end customers of all sizes and capabilities. With a single base platform, an OEM partner could develop a wide range of appliance products using the same qualified drivers, devices, and compatibilities across multiple platforms targeted at different levels of solutions.
  • Offering expandability with two PCIe expansion slots, and scalability with a sizable feature set and performance options to address multiple workloads and markets with a single platform. This flexibility allows customers to easily develop their products with industry-standard components for more reliable costs and high-value solutions.
  • Occupying a small form factor at a mere 24” deep, the R310 will easily fit into nearly all standard racks or in application-specific enclosures, making it ideal for anyone with limited real estate.
