Introducing the Small, but Powerful Data Domain DD2200

With all the excitement of EMC World last week, you might have missed an exciting announcement – the introduction of the DD2200.  With this new system, we’re redefining entry-level protection storage – providing enterprise-class capabilities optimized for midmarket customers.   Just like all Data Domain systems, the DD2200 runs the powerful Data Domain Operating System – so it packs the same punch as large enterprise systems like the DD990. This means midmarket customers can now more cost effectively:

• Consolidate backup and archive data and reduce data protection storage requirements by 10 to 30x

• Achieve network-efficient disaster recovery with Data Domain Replicator

• Gain reliable recovery with the Data Domain Data Invulnerability Architecture

• Speed backups by 50% with Data Domain Boost to meet increasingly stringent SLAs

Optimize data protection via advanced integration with the newly enhanced EMC Data Protection Suite

As far as specs go, the new DD2200 provides:

• Performance up to 4.7 TB/hr via DD Boost

• Up to 17.2 TB usable capacity

• Simultaneous support for up to 60 backup/archive streams
