March brings the changing of the seasons with warmer weather and flowers blooming all over the Texas roadways. Dell too is warming up with new enterprise solutions and hosting or attending fun and interesting industry events this month.

The Dell Servers team announced performance improvements and highlighted some of our many customers with the updates from Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v4.  PowerEdge 13th Generation Servers updates included differentiated air-cooled support and enhanced memory bandwidth 

HPC Gaining Traction in Australia


High Performance Computing (HPC) has been on a growth spurt, especially down under in Australia. The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Australia's national science agency has a new system, nicknamed ‘Pearcey,’ that will drive a new era of big science and healthcare. By analyzing and modeling enormous amounts of data, CSIRO can implement advanced clinical treatments that enhance individual and community health benefits. The Pearcey system will also connect to the CSIRO Bowen Research Cloud, which is built on Dell PowerEdge technology, and provides CSIRO researchers with access to hundreds of flexible data and compute pools designed for collaborative research.

Future-Ready Economies & Tech Trends

Dell’s Enterprise business executives made their way to the East Coast to meet with key influencers to provide perspectives on industry trends, thought leadership, and to address the Future-Ready Economies findings. Dell conducted research with Harvard University on the future-readiness of cities at the Strategic Innovation Summit on Enabling Economies of the Future. Experts there found that communities should focus on three key enablers:

1)      Attracting and nurturing human capital

2)      Fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented commercial environment

3)      Building an enabling foundation of technology, telecom, and physical infrastructure

Dell Match Play: A Hole-in-One

Sports stars came out to watch Dell Match Play, the World Golf Championships held at the Austin Country Club. Tennis star and philanthropist Andy Roddick emceed the event, which was attended by Dell's chief commercial officer and president, Enterprise Solutions, Marius Haas (pictured above). This is Dell’s first year hosting the tournament, with Australian golfer Jason Day winning it this year.

Dell & Intel Talk Clouds at #IntelCloudDay

At the end of the month, Intel held its Cloud Day event in San Francisco to announce new technologies, investments and industry collaborations aimed at making it easier to deploy agile and scalable clouds. Jim Ganthier, VP & GM of Cloud Solutions was in attendance supporting Intel and giving updates on Dell’s cloud business.
