Recognition feels good, remembering how you got here makes it even better

Recently, Dave Mitchell of IT Pro reviewed the R910 and he really liked what he saw. In fact, he “highly recommends” the PowerEdge R910. Here are key quotes from the review that got my attention.

“Dell is making a habit of beating its competition in the server market to the punch.”

“As the first Xeon 7500 server to market, the PowerEdge R910 will be a tough act to follow.”

“ It offers a cracking hardware specification for the price and combines this with a big expansion potential, superb internal design, high component redundancy and quality management features.”

“Dell was first to add a bootable SD memory card for embedded hypervisors and with both the R810 and R910 it’s gone one step beyond as you now get two of them on the same board.”

As I read the review, I remembered how Dell Product Group got the R910 to this point.

It began with conversations with our customers about our 10th generation PowerEdge server products and what they would like to see in future 11th generation products. We went on the road to research and interview thousands of customers, and to learn as much as possible about what they really needed in a server.

They told us they wanted a server that was simple to deploy, easy to manage, and reliable. They wanted a server that gave them the confidence to do their job and eliminated complexity, saving them cost.

Dell dedicated more than 1.5 million engineering and product development hours in our 11th generation PowerEdge servers. The end result is our most robust and powerful PowerEdge server platforms, capable of tackling the toughest mission critical applications. Here are just a few innovation highlights:

  • The industry’s first and only embedded systems management eliminating data center complexity with Dell Unified Server Configurator powered by Lifecycle Controller. Lifecycle Controller provides IT administrators with a single console view of their entire IT infrastructure while performing a comprehensive set of provisioning functions including system deployment, system updates, hardware configuration and diagnostics.
  • FlexMemory Bridge Technology available on the PowerEdge R810 and M910 gives up to two Intel 7500 or 6500 series processors access to all 32 DIMMs eliminating bottlenecks helping to maximize workload efficiency. The end result is that customers get outstanding memory scalability without paying a premium price.
  • “Fail-Safe” Virtualization: Dell was one of the first companies to offer an embedded hypervisor, helping speed the deployment and operation of virtualization. Now Dell has taken an extra step to offer dual embedded hypervisors to help give customers the added security of a redundant hypervisor. This feature provides customers peace of mind as they expand and increase the number of virtual machines running on an individual server.
  • Purposeful, robust design and broad commonality resulting in easier maintenance and quality over time saving valuable time.

We’ve tackled complexity and cost with our latest servers by offering innovation and value. It’s amazing what you can achieve when you listen!
