Recently I had the chance to sit down with Steve Scott, product manager for Dell Active System Manager. ASM is a comprehensive infrastructure and workload automation solution that helps IT departments streamline infrastructure provisioning, speed up workload deployment and simplify IT service delivery. The latest version, ASM 7.6, has just been released, and includes some key features and enhancements that give customers more flexibility in managing their IT resources. In our conversation, Steve highlights three powerful features of the new release.
- Service mobility – enables the quick migration of workloads across servers and other devices in response to a hardware failure or planned maintenance.
- Granular server configuration – expanded server profile configuration capabilities provide the ability to migrate bios level information from server to server
- Service lifecycle enhancements – quickly respond to change in the needs of running workloads by scaling compute and storage resources up or down on the fly
