Utah resort serves up a reliable guest experience, and big IT savings
Park City Mountain Resort relies heavily on technology to provide a top-class service for guests. The resort deployed a Dell virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) to streamline and enhance the guest experience with more personalized customer interaction, while cutting server costs by $50,000. On the slopes and on the road, staff stay in touch and productive with handheld devices. SKIDATA, a contactless, radio-frequency identification-based app allows staff to check guests’ ski passes on a tablet. In the office, employees have a true cloud client computing solution via their Dell Wyse thin clients. The VDI environment also powers the resort’s point-of-sale system. Care home has happy patients and personnel, and saves on IT maintenance
Dutch Kentalis wanted to enhance patient care and support for staff. They built a private cloud and VDI using Dell PowerEdge servers, as well as Dell Storage PS series (EqualLogic) and Dell Storage MD series (PowerVault) to deliver IT services to Kentalis offices across the country. With desktop services available on-demand, staff now have easy access to the resources they need to provide effective care. Kentalis has also reduced the cost of data storage.
Fashion gets dressed up with the latest IT to keep mobile staff productive
The cutting-edge of fashion at Dallas-based Haggar Clothing was being held back by legacy IT systems that couldn’t keep pace with growth. The company consolidated data onto a Dell Storage SC series (Compellent) array and launched a VMware-based virtual platform. With faster load and boot times for virtual desktops, users are reclaiming 40 hours a month. Haggar Clothing has also reduced the storage space needed.
University in China promotes higher standards in higher education
Chengdu University of Information Technology wanted to drive learning and innovation with cloud computing and thin clients. It was also looking to develop a commercial solution for organizations across China. The cloud environment is powered by Dell PowerEdge servers, Dell Storage PS series (EqualLogic) and Dell Networking switches, and staff use Dell Wyse thin clients. The university saves US$5,000 on PC maintenance per classroom and students have the latest upgrades and downloads on their PCs in an instant.
School gets A grade for flexible learning
The Kerrville Independent School District in Texas wanted to maximize students’ potential with innovative learning services such as bring-your-own-devices. It used existing Dell equipment to support a virtual desktop solution featuring Dell Wyse thin clients. Now learners get a faster desktop experience in the classroom, and have the freedom to work on a range of devices. So there’s no excuse for late homework. And the district has saved over $53,000.
Car dealership revs up sales
Isuzu Ung Nguan Tai Group, a dealership in Thailand for Isuzu vehicles, was growing fast. Yet its IT infrastructure wasn’t flexible enough to keep pace with the sales team moving between its 15 branches. The company deploy a virtualized Dell data center with personalized virtual desktops based on Dell Wyse thin clients and delivered through VMware Horizon™ View.
