With VxRail and VxRack SDDC, V is for…

V is for VERTICAL!  I bet you thought I was going to say VMware? Or Victory?

While those are reasonable guesses considering that we are showcasing VxRail and VxRack SDDC at VMworld this week, and that we are winning and gaining share in HCI. To continue gaining market share, we know that need to be great in both “vertical” infrastructure (as in, HCI completely integrated with VMware) and “horizontal” infrastructure (as in, multi-hypervisor HCI) to meet the diverse needs of our customers.

While horizontal infrastructures provide more flexibility with loosely coupled components best for heterogenous environments, I’d like to spend a few moments double-clicking on V-E-R-T-I-C-A-L infrastructures.

V – E: VMware Easy button. Dell EMC VxRail Appliances and VxRack SDDC rack-scale HCI are the only HCI offerings on the market jointly engineered with VMware. That means you will not find a more seamless, optimized and tightly integrated HCI system anywhere else. Period. And the fact that you can use the same VMware tools you know and love to manage them? Easy!

R – T: – Realize Transformation. Most (over 70%) customers understand they need to transform their IT to drive innovation and stay competitive and that the cloud is not a place but an operating model, yet many are still not sure how to get started. Dell EMC HCI, especially when leveraged through Cloud Flex for HCI, offers a really low-risk way to get started. Try it for a year with set monthly payments and no obligation afterward. More than likely, you’ll keep it because you will finally be starting to realize and accelerate your IT transformation goals. With up to 47% cost savings over public cloud in the first year, what is there to lose?*

I – C: Infrastructure for Cloud. VxRail and VxRack SDDC are the infrastructure foundation for creating scalable on-premises hybrid clouds on HCI, no matter whether you choose to build it yourself or leverage our turnkey hybrid cloud platforms that offer full lifecycle management. Announced this week, both Enterprise Hybrid Cloud (for turnkey IaaS) and Native Hybrid Cloud (for turnkey PaaS) add support for VxRack SDDC and enhance the offering for VxRail-based deployments.

A – L: Automation & Lifecycle management. Simplified management and deployment results in huge savings – both in time and money – up to 16x lower admin costs for install and upgrades and 30% lower TCO overall on VxRail versus DIY HCI. The value of having one-click software upgrades and access to one call support from Dell EMC cannot be overstated because this streamlined experience creates IT certainty (and trust) with our customers. Imagine a world with no more testing, sequencing, and validating where your infrastructure goes from one good known state to the next good known state delivered in a single software update. That is VxRail and VxRack SDDC.

The key to all of this – the Vertical infrastructure model – is simplification. It’s all about simplifying so it’s easier for you, our customers, to accelerate your IT transformation with HCI. I invite you to stay connected with us on our journey to #1 in HCI.

*VxRail with Cloud Flex provides up to 47% cost savings over AWS for the first year for general purpose virtualized server workloads. Based on comparisons with AWS pricing on 4/28/2017 for a server virtualization workload (50 VMs). VxRail sized using VxRail sizing tool.
